Last night saw us play our first show for 2008 at the Sounds of Summer Music BBQ at Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club with Carus, Loren, Rob Sawyer, and others sharing the stage during the night.

Considering it was a very hot day we still managed to get a much larger crowd then we'd expected. A lot of families amongst the crowd, some younger fans who can't get along to our club gigs, as well as the regular usual suspects who attend our shows throughout the year having some fun too. It looks like Sounds of Summer could now become an annual event so hopefully we'll see some of you there next year.

20th DECEMBER : CONDOLENCES TO "THE RED SHORE"...

The Go Set are saddened to hear of the recent tragic accident involving fellow Geelong band "The Red Shore" yesterday in Coffs Harbour.

Lead singer Damien Morris, and the band's roadie and merchandiser Andy Milner were killed after their tour van lost control on a section of the Pacific Highway just after 7am.

The band was travelling to Sydney with American death metal outfit All Shall Perish as part of its Christmas Carnage Tour when the crash occurred.

The Go Set would like to extend it's deepest condolences and best wishes to the families and friends of the two young men that were tragically killed.

10th DECEMBER : THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS...

Well, 2007 is nearly over. And what a huge year for the band. We released our third album 'A Journey for a Nation' with the amazing talents of Mick Thomas and Craig Pilkington at the helm, and then hit the road on the never ending national tour. We played everywhere from Geraldton Western Australia, to Launceston Tasmania and everything in between , including a short acoustic tour in Japan.

Don Beech harassed the general public every single weekend, our trailer lost a wheel at 100 clicks in the Koorong, a bunch of very inebriated and very late chaps were almost kicked off a plane from Perth, it almost came to blows on a cold wintery night near the end of the tour in the main street of Hobart, we lost a bag of cash, and we almost split up.......such is the life of the hard working rock n roll band.

But a great man once said that the 'darkest hour is just before the dawn'

For every difficulty we had through the year the rewards seem to be coming back to us in 2008.

The year ahead sees the band playing a stack of festivals, including Woodford, Pyramid Rock, St Kilda, and Port Fairy, as well as some great support slots, and a European tour.

A MASSIVE thankyou to everyone who has been involved in 2007, and we look forward to sharing an exciting 2008.

Gigs....
Don't forget our annual Christmas shows (22nd/23rd). These will be our last club dates for the year, and we hope to share the Christmas cheer with the entire Go Set extended family.

After Christmas, the band will be doing four nights (27th-30th Dec) at the fantastic Woodford Festival in QLD, and then flying back to play NYE at the Pyramid Rock Festival at Phillip Island. The festival is sold out, but for those lucky enough to have tickets we will be looking forward to bringing in the new year with you all.

In January we will be jumping on the Roots Roadshow with our good mate Carus for a bunch of acoustic shows along coastal Victoria before heading up to the Illawarra Festival and some club dates in NSW.

Can't wait to get out there and rock out. Hope to see you all with a grog in hand and some summer sun.

Fri 12th October - At The Heads, Barwon Heads VIC (9.30pm)
Sat 20th October - Apollo Bay Hotel, Apollo Bay VIC

Also, a big 'get well' wish from everyone in The Go Set camp to our drummer Dave Folley who is currently recovering from a heart operation. Dave was rushed to hospital a few weeks ago after being diagnosed with a potentially life threatening heart problem, and is currently resting and rehabilitating. Dave will be out of action for the coming months, but looks set to be back and fighting fit soon.

On another note, its been a long time coming but this summer looks set to be the biggest and best yet for the band. With a whole bunch of festival appearances already confirmed, its going to hold some great opportunities to play in front of big audiences and new faces.

Thankyou to all who have been voting in this years MusicOz awards. The Go Set has been steadily climbing the Top 100 list and very close to being in the TOP 10!! Please keep voting if you can.

15th JUNE : THE JOURNEY KICKS OFF...

Well , it was 'intereresting' to say the least over the weekend. But what would a Go Set tour be without a few shenanigans? You can read all about it in the TOUR DIARY section.

The band is in fine form, as is our good mate Mick Thomas - so the shows are really cooking. The show has really become something special, with The Go Set backing Mick on some of his set and then Mick taking to the stage with us later in the night. Thanks to all those in Mt Gambier, Adelaide, Portland, and, of course, the National Celtic Festival that came out over the weekend. Our merch box was markedly lighter at the end of the weekend, and there were lots of new faces to say g'day to along the way.

A week off, and then the tour hits Victoria with our big launch gig at the PRINCE OF WALES on the 22nd JUNE. Promises to be a really special night, with Mick and Wally teaming up again, as well as Craig Pilkington (who produced our new album) and old Weddo's band mate Jen Anderson all taking to the stage.

PODCAST INTERVIEW

Mick Thomas has come up with a fantastic idea folks, and is recording a podcast interview to go up on the internet in the future. The concept is basically that as songwriters, Mick and Keeno ask eachother a bunch of questions about how they have constructed their songs. Something really interesting for any budding muso's out there, or those interested in how Mick or Keeno go about some of the songs that people have enjoyed. Keep an eye on MICK'S WEBSITE for the podcast details. Hopefully we will have a link up here soon too.

THANKYOU!!

8th January 2007

** Firstly, a huge thankyou to everyone for a great 2006, and to those who came to share the Christmas festivities over the four nights of Christmas. A lot of help goes on behind the scenes to keep this ship afloat - so to those people - we raise a glass to you for all of the incredible and generous help over the last year. 2007 looks set to be a great year ahead too.

**Very quiet on the live front this month, as we are hard at work with the third album. The album will be recorded in the next few weeks, and we are really excited that it will be produced by one of our all-time influences, Mick Thomas, and engineered by Craig Pilkington. FAREWELL MATT and BAX

Sad news in The Go Set camp over the last two months. After four long years, national touring and a couple of treks to NZ, we bid farewell to Matt Mair our trusty lighting and stage man. Matt has been in the trenches with the band for a long time now, and everyone in our extended family wishes him the very best. He will be sorely missed. An update on his continued involvement in drinking binges with the band will be posted on the messageboard no doubt.

At the same time, we've lost our beloved Mandolin player Baxter. Bax's role in the band started out in 2004 , firstly as a guitar tech, and then as a part time mando player. Over the past year's, Bax's involvement in our sound and touring has become integral, and he's had a great input into our journey. Aside from that, he had a great forte for entertaining the masses with some of the finer things in life whilst on the road. He's found a new calling, it seems, as a producer.

The Go Set wishes both our Sunbury lads the very best in the future, we love you both, and you'll always be our brothers and part of the team.

ESPY RESIDENCY EXTENDED?

Well, thats the word on the street. We'll keep you posted. The Mondays at the Espy, as well as the other residency shows, have been a real blast. Thanks to all those who have been coming out to the shows. It's much appreciated.

NSW THIS WEEKEND!!!

Check out the SHOWS page. New dates have also been added for Geelong, and WA too.

It's the first chance to get your hands on some of the film clips from "The Hungry Mile" (Including the previously unreleased clip to "Tale of a Convict"). By the way, this would be a great one to pick up if you haven't heard Cashless yet, because they are set to tour here in Australia with us August 1-21st!
In other news, a huge thanks to our friends at 4ZZZ in Bris-vegas for getting behing "The Hungry Mile." We feature at #5 in their latest Top 20 Chart.
We're heading out again in the coming weeks, hitting up Victoria and South Australia. Check the upcoming shows and we'll hope to see ya out there!

TASMANIAN MADNESS!
23th May 2006

We're back from Tassie, safe and sound...just! Those hooligans from Ballpoint sure know how to show their visitors a good time and when combined with the likes of The Go Set, things definitely got interesting! Anyway, we'll have something up in the TOUR DIARY soon so you can catch yourself up with some of the goings-on.
The Tasmanian shows saw extremely healthy crowds of fans who came out to rock along with us every night! A huge thanks to all of you, we couldn't have done it without your help. Our apologies to those of you who came out to the Lewisham Tavern and we're dissapointed to find that we weren't playing. Unfortunately there was a mix up with the venue double booking and we didn't get to play!
Finally, a massive cheers to those who organised the shows and all the bands that played. Thanks to The Roobs and an extra big thanks to Ballpoint for providing places to sleep and awesome people to party with!!
On the website side of things.....slow with the updates, i know! The reason being that my computer decided to die recently! But im slowly finding time to get plenty of new stuff up for you to check out! Thanks for the patience!
Some really big shows coming up! Geelong, Adelaide and a massive one to officially end The Hungry Mile National Tour at the Corner Hotel on June 16!
Till then......Cheers!
Chris.

THE HUNGRY MILE...FROM THE QUEENSLAND SUN TO THE TASSIE SNOW!
10th May 2006

An update from our adventures.
We just arrived back from a run of shows in QLD with our mates Hytest. Seems that everyone had a great time and I think I speak for everyone when I say that we need to make these QLD shows a bit more often. Thanks to everyone at 4ZZZ and our street team people who helped out promoting the shows, and all of the new faces that came out to see the gigs. There is a brief rundown on the TOUR DIARY page to check out.
Next week we are off to Tasmania with a run of shows with local Tassie acts The Roobs and Ballpoint. Can't wait.
After that we're back home in Victoria. All the dates are up on the SHOWS page, so check it out!
'The Power of Youth' video went to Rage this week and we are trying to get some Triple J action as well, so help us out with a request if you can.

THE HUNGRY MILE ROLLS ON...
21th April 2006

Just a quick update to say that I've added a couple of dates and important info for upcoming shows.
The album has sold well enough to get into the indie charts for the first time and although we have already sold out of the first pressing, there is a back catalogue of orders waiting at the distributor...so things are looking up!
Over the next few weeks we hit the Apollo Bay Music Festival, Queensland, Tasmania, South Australia, and then back home - with a Geelong show on Queen's birthday weekend and a huge one at the Corner Hotel the week after. I've updates the shows page through until mid-June, but will add a bunch more soon. Finny McConnell from Canadian band The Mahones will be joining us for the June shows as well!
New drummer Chris has filled in on this tour like a true professional (and has not yet been corrupted by the likes of one McHaggis....yet) and everyone is in fine form.

WELCOME TO THE GO SET'S NEW WEBSITE!!
18th April 2006

Ladies and Gentlemen, after much deliberation (including issues with our server and the site being taken over hackers!) we are very pleased to announce the release of our new look website. Those observant of you will notice that the site isn't fully updated at this stage, but bare with us...once it's done we should have heaps of new shit to check out and hopefully some cool new features!
In other news, what a whirlwind the start of The Hungry Mile national tour has been (Sure doesn't seem like over a month since the first show)!
We just arrived back from a run of shows in NSW! We made some new pals in the boys from Hytest, who are also coming along for the ride on the Queensland leg on the tour. Sure was an interesting ride back in the van for a Sunday night show in Torquay!!!
All you forum-goers will hopefully have read a little about our time across the ditch in NZ! T'was an awesome few days we spent over there. Cheers to all the bands we played with and everyone who helped us out!
Finally we get around to those crazy shows that Victoria saw last month! We made some great new mates, those Shark Soup boys certainly put on a killer live set and are even better guys....sad to see 'em go. Although the good news is it looks like the crazy Germans will be back in Aus next year!! A huge thanks to everyone that came out to the shows and bought the album. We all had an awesome time, even if the boys were all a little "worse for wear" the morning after the last show in Warracknabeal!
By the way...this weekend is Apollo Bay Music Festival, definitely check that out. We are playing two sets on the Saturday, one at 12:30pm and the other at 5:30pm.
Hope to see ya out at a show. Till later....Chris
